For a resort or hotel with a swimming pool, the “Blue and White” striped towel is an iconic symbol of leisure. However, it is also the textile subjected to the harshest environment: scorching UV rays, salty sea air, and aggressive chlorinated pool water.

Standard reactive-dyed towels will fade, bleach out, and look “old” within weeks in these conditions. To maintain a vibrant 5-star look, procurement managers must understand one critical technical term: Indanthrene Dyeing (Vat Dyeing).

1. The Chemistry of Color Fastness

Why do ordinary towels turn pink or white after exposure to pool water? It’s the bleach (chlorine) attacking the dye molecules.

• The Sweet Spot (450-550gsm): Galaxy recommends this range for pool towels. They are thick enough to feel absorbent and cover a lounge chair, but light enough to dry quickly in the sun or dryer, maximizing your laundry efficiency.
